The latest news from Ford is about to stir up a storm, and Mustang fans are not going to be pleased. The iconic V-8 Mustang has come to be the symbol of American muscle power. But unfortunately, it is about to hit your wallet harder than ever before.

Prices for the 2025 GT and Dark Horse models have surged, leaving fans to weigh the cost against the value of the updates in the cars. However, there’s a silver lining here: standard features have made their appearance in the vehicle.

2025 Mustang GT Price Hikes and Features

Let’s break it down. The 2025 Mustang GT sees a significant price hike across the board. The base price for the GT Fastback now starts at $47,055, up $2,600 from last year. But are you opting for the GT Premium trim? Prepare to shell out $51,575. If your heart desires the wind in your hair and the roar of a V-8, the GT Premium Convertible begins at $57,075. All these figures include a $1,595 destination charge, consistent with last year.

But don’t worry, the extra bucks do fetch some pretty products. The once-optional 10-speed automatic transmission, previously a $1,595 upgrade, is now a no-cost option. Of course, for the manual transmission purists, this is not the most exciting feature. However, it’s still a great value addition. Also, GT Fastback buyers can now have dual-zone climate control and leather/vinyl trimmed seats as standard features. Before now, these luxuries were part of the 301A equipment package, which cost $2,000.

2025 Dark Horse Price Hikes and Features

For those with an insatiable appetite for power and performance, the Dark Horse models have also seen a price surge. The 2025 Dark Horse now commands $2,645 more, while the Dark Horse Premium starts at a staggering $69,870—an increase of $3,645.

According to Ford’s configurator, there are no significant changes to the Dark Horse aside from the price.

Mustang GT aficionados who crave customization must be prepared for additional costs. The active exhaust with quad tips now sets you back $1,595, a $370 increase. Want Brembo brakes? Add another $300. The California Special package on the GT Premium has jumped to $2,195. Even the equipment packages aren’t spared from incremental increases.

In contrast to the GT and Dark Horse, the 2025 Mustang EcoBoost offers some relief. Prices for this turbocharged four-cylinder model are the same. Moreover, it now comes standard with dual-zone climate control, making the 101A Equipment package cheaper at $2,095. However, there’s a catch: the EcoBoost High-Performance package has been discontinued, no longer appearing in Ford’s configurator.

In response to inquiries about the new pricing and changes, a Ford spokesperson stated: “Mustang continues to offer the most variety and best bang for the horsepower buck on the market today. No one else is building a V-8 sports car with a 486-hp V8 or 500-hp V8 Dark Horse at this price point. And for the 2025 model year Mustang GT, we now include a 10-speed automatic transmission as a no-cost option (previously a $1,595 option) and dual-zone climate control is now standard across all 2025MY Mustangs.”

The 2025 Mustang is a mixed bag of emotions. The price hikes are undeniably steep, a bitter pill to swallow. However, the upgraded features are no joke. So don’t worry if you are a diehard Mustang fan, because your love for this vehicle will remain unabated.
