The second Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event of 2024 has laid out a host of new Galaxy devices soon to grace the world over the next few months or so. Watches, phones, and rings made appearances in this event. Also, unsurprisingly, Samsung has introduced AI capabilities into its devices.

Some of you attended the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, but some of you missed it. Worry not, because we have your back. This article will cover all the juicy releases featured in this event. Let’s dive right in!

Everything Revealed at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in July 2024

Galaxy Ring: Samsung’s first ring technology

Samsung’s Galaxy Ring marks the company’s venture into a novel wearables category.

This is a minimalist and always-on tracker. It has been designed for continuous wear keeping convenience in mind. The Galaxy Ring boasts up to seven days of battery life. It houses multiple sensors for passive wellness tracking. It monitors heart rate, skin temperature, and steps taken. Also, running and walking workouts are automatically logged. The data is connected to the Samsung Health app. Thus, it provides users with Sleep and Energy Scores and AI-powered personalized health tips. The Galaxy Ring is a slender fitness tracker and a neatly packed combination of functionality and elegance.

Also, the size matters with the Galaxy Ring. Choosing the correct size for the Galaxy Ring is more important than it seems.

It is available in nine sizes, ranging from US size 5 to 13. However, the ring’s availability in specific sizes and colors will vary by region. A free sizing kit helps users determine the right fit when ordering. However, note this caveat: smaller rings equate to shorter battery life. Those with slimmer fingers will experience a battery life of six days instead of seven. So be careful and don’t err on either side.

Galaxy Z Fold 6: The smartest foldable phone yet

At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 might appear similar to its predecessor. However, subtle yet significant design tweaks make a world of difference. The device is slightly shorter and wider. This enhances the usability of the cover display with one hand.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and is equipped to handle the new Galaxy AI features. The Sketch to Image feature, for instance, transforms S Pen doodles on photos into polished cartoons or other image styles. The Interpreter app is another smart AI feature that provides two-way translations on the main and cover displays. Communication and creativity are two fortes of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Galaxy Watch Ultra vs Apple Watch Ultra

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Watch Ultra to be pitted against the Apple Watch Ultra. This is an upgraded version of the Galaxy Watch 7 tailored for outdoor enthusiasts. The battery is amazing and the titanium-armored cushion has been redesigned. Additionally, there is a programmable Quick button, GPS, and new wilderness survivability tools.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra is built to withstand rugged environments without compromising its performance. Whether you are sitting in an air-conditioned space or weather blizzards outdoors, the Galaxy Watch Ultra works in both conditions.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: New technology at the same price

The Galaxy Watch 7 maintains the circular design of its predecessors. At the same time, it introduces significant internal upgrades.

The watch is powered by a 3-nanometer Samsung Exynos chip and also features a redesigned BioActive Sensor. These enhancements are made to support the new Energy Score feature, which simplifies health data for users. Gesture controls and smarter suggested replies are powered by Galaxy AI. Most surprising of all, despite all these upgrades, the Galaxy Watch 7 retains its price point.

The Fun and Versatile Galaxy Z Flip 6

During the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 took center stage. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 was more like a sidekick.

This year’s model boasts several iterative upgrades over the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It features a new 50MP camera, a faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a larger battery, and improved durability. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 also introduces new software and AI features for enhanced user experience. It is available in four vibrant colors—Yellow, Blue, Mint, and Silver Shadow. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 harks back to the signature Samsung foldable technology.

Galaxy Buds Pro 3 brings AI into audio

The Galaxy Buds Pro 3 is a small step for Samsung, but a giant leap for audio technology. These earbuds feature sticks that extend downwards which enable new pinch-and-swipe controls. The Pro model includes a Blade Light which adds a touch of futuristic design.

The Galaxy Buds Pro 3 offers substantial sound upgrades with an advanced dual-driver system in the Pro version and enhanced noise cancellation. The AI-powered Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) adapts intelligently to the environment which further enhances the sound quality. AI features also improve call quality while extending battery life. The Galaxy Buds Pro 3 sports 24-bit Hi-Res Audio and 3D spatial sound, which, when combined with Samsung phones, make for a truly immersive experience.

Samsung and Google shake hands on XR platform collaboration

Almost as if they were shy to say it, Samsung and Google reaffirmed their partnership on the XR platform (AR, MR, and VR collectively are called XR). Samsung’s President and Head of Mobile Experience (MX) business, TM Roh, hinted that this collaboration could be coming to fruition and could be expected to be unveiled later this year.

The Samsung Developer’s Conference, scheduled for October 3, 2024, is likely to provide more details. It will be exciting to see what these tech giants have in store for the world.

The Energy Score feature, but not for everyone

Lastly, Samsung introduced the Energy Score feature for Galaxy Watches at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event. This feature offers a battery charge rating for the body. Whenever they overexert themselves, it releases an alert. The aim here is to enhance awareness of health and provide actionable recommendations based on one’s physical state.

Before we got too happy, Samsung revealed the catch: the Energy Score feature is only available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 or newer models. That means if you own older models, such as the Galaxy Watch 3, no access to this feature for you.

And that brought the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked of July 2024 to a close. Samsung has got a lot in store for their community, technologies that will be released intermittently over the next year. But that doesn’t mean this is all that Samsung packs. Keep your ears open because the tech giant will soon be on the news again.
